A feel-good release
Hello hello! 3800 Legend is my first TTRPG release. I wrote it in the evening of the 18th of January of 2024. I knew Friday the 19th was going to be a terrible day at work, so I needed a distraction and something that would soothe my soul.
I've been playing solo TTRPGs for the past year, and right before Christmas I bought The Archon Ruins. It's a GM-less adventure in a world whose setting reminded me of a vibe I've been chasing for a while. It's a bit Legend of Zelda, parts BirdKing, a bit A Land Called Tarot, and a bit Coda. The intro tells you it's a system-agnostic game, and throws some monster stats. I had some fun looking for a system pairing over Christmas, but found none that inspired me so I decided to build my own.
I've been toying with 24XX -based games for a while. I like the 1400 lo-fi hi-fantasy series for how cleanly it summarizes an adventure and how it adapts the system. From that base it only needed some flavor. The game introduces three unique features not found in other 24XX games: Ancient Items, Adventure Rules, and the looming presence of the Big Bad.
I hope you enjoy this first release, and comment if you find any tweaks or typos to fix!
